Defended PhD: "Towards Applicable Spiking Neural Networks"

Today I defended my PhD entitled: "Towards Applicable Spiking Neural Networks". The full text can be downloaded here. I tackled spike train coding, learning of spiking neural networks, kernels for unbinned spike trains, Liquid State Machines and digital hardware implementations of spiking neural networks. The techniques were applied on a speech recognition application. Jose Principe (University of Florida), Bernard Girau (University of Nancy) and Johan Suykens (University of Leuven) were part of my PhD jury.
